About Eleni

 

Born into a Greek family where music, dance and celebration were part of everyday life, Eleni’s journey with belly dance began long before she stepped onto the stage. Growing up surrounded by the rhythms and traditions of the Mediterranean and Middle East, dance was not simply something she learned, it was part of her upbringing and an integral part of her identity.
 
Eleni was also fortunate to be mentored by her aunt, Jenny, one of Sydney’s pioneering professional belly dancers, who helped establish belly dance in Australia alongside legendary figures such as Amera Eid. Under her guidance, Eleni developed a deep appreciation for the artistry, cultural heritage and authenticity of the dance, laying the foundation for what would become a very respected career.
 
Today, Eleni is recognised as one of Australia’s premier belly dance artists, celebrated for her refined technique, captivating stage presence and unwavering commitment to artistic excellence. She is highly regarded throughout the Australian Middle Eastern community and is regularly  performing at prestigious weddings, luxury private celebrations, corporate events, gala dinners, restaurants, theatres and cultural festivals. Her work has also been featured in print media and on television, including appearances on The Bachelor and Married at First Sight (MAFS).
 
Dedicated to the continual pursuit of excellence, Eleni has trained extensively since the age of thirteen and has travelled internationally to study with some of the world’s most distinguished Egyptian master instructors. Her commitment to lifelong learning continues to shape her artistry and preserve the authenticity of Egyptian dance.
 
Beyond the stage, Eleni is a passionate educator of the art form. As the founder and director of her own belly dance academy, she is dedicated to nurturing dancers of all levels while preserving the cultural integrity and artistic standards of belly dance for future generations. Her teaching is renowned for its strong technical foundation, musicality and emphasis on authentic performance.
 
Further reflecting her leadership within the Australian dance community, Eleni is one of the organisers of the Australian Belly Dance Expo, the  largest  belly dance event in Australia. Bringing together leading artists, musicians, dancers and students from across Australia and beyond, the Expo celebrates the richness, diversity and continued evolution of belly dance.
 
Whether performing on stage, educating the next generation of dancers or leading one of Australia’s most significant belly dance events, Eleni continues to elevate the profile of belly dance through elegance, authenticity and an uncompromising dedication to excellence.

Eleni is also an established and respected Samba dancer and instructor.

Eleni’s journey with Samba began in 2019 when she started training with Sashya Jay. Her natural flair as a dancer and love for Samba saw her progress in the genre quickly and she soon became part of the pro performance team at Escola de Samba Sydney.

Eleni’s passion for Samba has taken her to Brazil four times for cultural immersion and intensive training with Carlinhos Salgueiro and other master instructors in Rio. She paraded in Rio Carnaval in 2023, 2024 and 2025 as an official Passista for Unidos de Bangu and Academicos do Salgueiro and will continue parading with both these schools next Carnaval.

Eleni’s solid technique and passion for sharing the art of Samba with students makes her an invaluable and well-loved instructor at Escola de Samba Sydney. She is also a member of the renowned Rio Projekt performance company.
